Today....

Well today some old guy tried stealing our ground saw literally 10’ in front of me as I was turning off the chipper. I was alone and look over to see him trying to start it. He claimed he didn’t see the truck:ROFLMAO: Mind you we aren’t running one of the big chip trucks or buckets today (an Isuzu) but how the hell do you not see and hear a truck and chipper.
 
Spent an hour this morning getting a nice 6-7' DBH redwood snag setup to pull over... Gonna dump it Fridy morning and skid the logs up the hilll to a landing were we will mill it into some lovely lumber.....
According to the Doyle scale chart there is 11,000-12,000 board foot in it.....

Funny you should say that Jomoco.... I was thinking about pulling out the 090 for this snag so I fired her up to see if she was running and cutting good...Heavy as fuck and slow as molasses, but she will get the job done. Thats for sure....
 
The tree is down in a nice pumpkin patch with quite a few 8-12 footers so it looks pretty average in its surroundings.. The top was tore out decades ago at 110-115 ft, and it is we'll over 4 foot up there....I have a nice gentle up hill lay so I know it will save out nicely, and hopefully it will produce some beautiful lumber .......If the wife is willing I willl make a quick vid when I dump the snag....
 
That’s a nice set up you have there. Could you snap a picture of that pole storage on the ford when you have time? That looks like it would work well for one of our chip trucks.

Thank you, we like it. That truck will be for sale in a couple months, if you really like it! I had taken a picture a couple years ago when we had that made up by a local aluminum shop, it’s real simple but works great. 68A0D19A-AF02-48B8-B951-C4A9A7F6409C.webp
 
Met up with @Tom Dunlap at Mel's Diner outside of Fremont, Nebraska today, for lunch. Spent over two hours turning fact into fiction, and fiction into fact.... never did get him to tell me where the bodies are buried. He's a sly old codger.

Had to dig the APTA out of the shed, where I put it at the end of last fall. Damn mice built a nest in it, so I pumped about 100 PSI into it and let 'er rip. Well, turns out that some mouse-like rodent was building a nest in there and it died. I don't know if it got stuck, or just ate something he shouldn't, but that was an ugly mess that landed on the garage roof. So, I taped a bottle brush to a yardstick so I can clean the stink out of the damn APTA, and during the process I must have opened the butterfly valve a little and now I have the bottle brush stuck in there. They don't make duct tape like they used to.

Think I'll just call it a day and drink some beer.

That post sir was one of the best damned things I've read in a while.
 
Today I watched a VHS to DVD vid of myself n crew from 27 years ago.

I had no idea the crane footage in Balboa Park had me wielding my 084 with the six foot Cannon bar.

This predates my Weeds at the Zoo1 vid, so I've named it Twigs in the Park.

All I've got's a few pics now.
