Zip line quick release at start

I'm looking for some sort of zip line quick release at the start so I can be sitting in my harness and the zip line won't move in till I pull something to get going

A short piece of rope as an anchor, attached to the climber via a munter hitch, held with a mule knot. And if desired, tied-off with an overhand knot.

thanks fir that. it is a much cheaper option, and no , what I'm doing is Not a life or death situation nor will it need to hold much load at all, worst that could happen is my kid goes down the zip line anyway. since i first posted I did see quick release snatch shackles on line. they would almost be perfect but I would like to have something like a quick release carabiner if that exists. I plan on welding a D ring onto the zip line trolley and if I had a Fixed carabiner on the upside the trolley on the cable side then my little kiddies will Not have to open up the shackle by hand, It'd be pretty hard to reach for them-in essence I'm looking for the trolley to snap into the carabiner and be able to quick release out
anybody know if something like that exists? Thanks for all the help

Cheaper option (assuming it's not life support, the petzl eject is full life support but sounds like you don't need this to be life rated from your description)

sorry cereal killer, i didn't open up your link (i'm brand new at this) you already had an answer that took me time to research
thanks all!

You could use a hitch based SRT system to hold your start position then repel off the end of the SRT rope to trigger the zip line trip. Probably easier to watch then explain...check out 3:06 in the video below.

A grigri or similar would work too, we were thinking about that at work the other day for a giant ropeswing. And we have plenty of old Lorys or Eddys to use for that.

i think in my situation (doesn't matter if it works every time or not) can i'm Going with a fence door latch, it'll click in, and hopefully open up under some strain with 0D4376C1-CCDE-47F0-A96A-A75A41287420.pngpull string

Good luck getting the gate latch to open with a load on it. You might be able to grind off some of the plate...I dunno.

A snap shackle or halter snap would work better I think

Using an Eddy or similar is clever. I never thought of using it. Setup like a rapel with no stopper would give the person control of their own release.

i was thinking the same thing, the load will not be great, but itstill may bind, can you "snap" into a snap shackle hands free? nothing i saw looked like that. thanks again everyone.

A little bit of an off-the-wall suggestion for you, look into boat trailer automatic latches. They automatically lock on to the loop on the front of the boat when it hits them going onto the trailer, and have a quick release handle to release the boat when you back it into the water. Something like that may work for you, or you may be able to modify it so that it works.

YOu might be able to find an old seat belt with the flapper type release rather than the push buttons we have now.

I'm trying to visualize what you want. It seems that you want a latch like a train coupler.

Why?

Magnets?

i want yto bring the zipline trolley up the 1/4 aircraft cable to the starting point and it clip/lock into place so my kids can sit down and get ready. then pull the release...doodad..and zip on down the line. all hands free from the lock/release mechanism they couldn't reach it anyway

oh yeah, if igo with a door latch it would be modified
i was thinking maybe weld a D-ring on the trolley , smaller diameter than than the latch pin and,, well ,,,i have some
