That would do it! Great thank youNot sure if this would work for you or not.
thanks fir that. it is a much cheaper option, and no , what I'm doing is Not a life or death situation nor will it need to hold much load at all, worst that could happen is my kid goes down the zip line anyway. since i first posted I did see quick release snatch shackles on line. they would almost be perfect but I would like to have something like a quick release carabiner if that exists. I plan on welding a D ring onto the zip line trolley and if I had a Fixed carabiner on the upside the trolley on the cable side then my little kiddies will Not have to open up the shackle by hand, It'd be pretty hard to reach for them-in essence I'm looking for the trolley to snap into the carabiner and be able to quick release out
Cheaper option (assuming it's not life support, the petzl eject is full life support but sounds like you don't need this to be life rated from your description)
sorry cereal killer, i didn't open up your link (i'm brand new at this) you already had an answer that took me time to researchCheaper option (assuming it's not life support, the petzl eject is full life support but sounds like you don't need this to be life rated from your description)

A grigri or similar would work too, we were thinking about that at work the other day for a giant ropeswing. And we have plenty of old Lorys or Eddys to use for that. You could use a hitch based SRT system to hold your start position then repel off the end of the SRT rope to trigger the zip line trip. Probably easier to watch then explain...check out 3:06 in the video below.
Agreed. Still looking for a good remotely triggered setup though...That sounds even better than the hitch based idea. Quicker to set-up too.
i want yto bring the zipline trolley up the 1/4 aircraft cable to the starting point and it clip/lock into place so my kids can sit down and get ready. then pull the release...doodad..and zip on down the line. all hands free from the lock/release mechanism they couldn't reach it anywayYOu might be able to find an old seat belt with the flapper type release rather than the push buttons we have now.
I'm trying to visualize what you want. It seems that you want a latch like a train coupler.
Why?
Magnets?
