You'll be on the platform with the kids, why not use a standard carabiner with a tether to the trolley. Once they're ready, pull them uphill a few inches, release the carabiner and let them go. Pulling a kid's weight up a zipline a few inches isn't very difficult. You can even clip the carabiner to the harness before releasing them if you want to avoid it swinging around.i want yto bring the zipline trolley up the 1/4 aircraft cable to the starting point and it clip/lock into place so my kids can sit down and get ready. then pull the release...doodad..and zip on down the line. all hands free from the lock/release mechanism they couldn't reach it anyway
Without knowing your exact zipline setup, is your trolley rated for 1/4" cable? If your trolley is oversized the cable could get between the sheave and sideplate causing it to come to a hault midway down the zipline. In a different setup I did this with a 10mm rope in a Pinto rig. The load was being pulled by a mini and the friction of the jammed rope ate through part of the sideplate of the pulley.
