Zillon as 2-in-1 lanyard. Loading unrated loop in Zillon lanyard.

Location
Cary
I got Zillon lanyard. On one end there is a sewn loop for carabiner, and on the other end there is an identical loop (see picture) which is plugged with some plastic screw. The red color of the wrap indicates it’s not supposed to be loaded.
After I removed the screw I have perfectly good loops on both ends, although one seem to be unrated.
If I add prusik and carabiner to the other end it looks like I will have 2-in-1 lanyard. Anyone tried it?
I know, the first reaction is “don’t use unrated loop”, however before you say so please look at the picture. Also I read Petzl technical information and there is nothing that specifically says don’t load the other end.

Mine came as a DEDA. Petzl Zillon on one side, and Petzl rope grab (micrograb I think?) on the other.

I cut that rope in half and flung it in a corner of the garage. Kinda looks like 16 strand, nothing really special, should serve fine, I don’t get to picky about lanyard rope. Now that you mention it, not sure what I did with the rope grab either, it’s around somewhere. With sewn eyes on both ends, there was no other way to remove the Zillon or grab, since neither device is midline attachable.

Anywho, those sewn eyes are same thing, go ahead and try a DEDA if you like.

Your all good to use both splices. They just put that info on one end of the lanyard like every other manufacturer does. Look at the hipster flex ce lanyard or any other with splices at both ends and you'll see the same information at one of the splices...
