Its very easy to reduntantly back up your zigzag, take a short quick link a la rock climbing and attach it ...

problem solved.

I see no reason, whatsoever, why you wouldnt do that to start with. Why doesnt Petzl sell it with one of their quik links supplied, I bet they start doinbg that now.
I think people are getting a little too lax, building zero redundancy into systems, and falling out of trees is the result.
People seem to think that as soon as your roped in your 100% safe, with climbers top roping more and more this is going to lead to more and more accidents.
Whenever possible you should be reduntantly backing yourself up, sure its a pain in the at times, but so is top roping.

I don't think anyone said it...but thanks for that link.

Until the linkage breaks off the pulley...I'd follow the stop use so you dont end up in the TCIA magazine. They stopped selling it for a reason.

If that redundant safety is installed you cannot end up in TCIA mag Bonner. Wouldn't allow any employee to use it if you are smart tho. If you really buy into the broken metal picture...carry a split tail in your pocket to get down.

nothing is a hundred percent safe son. Like I said, I put a strap redundant safety in the area of question and climb on it every day...including today.

The only problem being that it is practically brand new and they already recalled it, so you dont know if the metal will fatigue because no one has ever tested it, your the one doing that moron, your the one fatigue testing the recalled ZigZag, dontcha feel honored.
I honestly think your a moron Treevet, anyone who would climb on that ZigZag in my books is a moron, I dont care how you saftey it. After the second person fell out of the tree, my mind was made up, the Petzl ZigZag is a moron piece of kit, enjoy all of em. I seriously feel sorry for your family, and anyone that has to work with you, people like you who disregard common sense, simple common sense, and talk this macho moron crapola give arbos a bad name, so thanks for that.

What's the story with second fall. I haven't seen any information at all regarding this. There has been several once dents if badly bent eyes. Including one used with a rope wrench to that eye. Do you have any details of second fall?

I am certain the Petzl Company earlier this month after the failure, issued a statement that they would release information on research on this matter on May 20th 2013 which has come and gone.

Doesn't anyone's word mean anything anymore?

Maybe they haven't come to a conclusion.

George Carlin did a routine on 'Lies' which was insightful and funny.
