Yer Rigs

I have only heard of them. One friend had some relay/electrical problems. These are newer items that ours didn't have.

He also had a clutch go in the first 3 weeks. He had bearing trouble too. He mentioned something else, but I don't remember all of it.

The end result was three trips to the dealer for repairs in the first month or so. He was loosing money everyday almost. On the bright side, Vermeer took care of him by allowing him to trade that one in for full amount and giving him a demo model 2000. He paid a lot less than retail for it. They did the right thing.

Not from me. I personally would think that they are very well built, but running one is another story. I couldn't really say.

Are you in the market for a new chipper? If so, ask the dealers to demo one of each brand of your choice. They'll usually bring them out to the jobsite and then you'll get first hand experience for free.

Yes, I'm probably gonna spring for a new one this spring. The model 17 is 9 years old with about 5000 hrs. It's starting to have a few problems, all easily repairable, but time is money as we all know. With the good track record of this machine, it'd be logical to buy another of the same brand, but you never know how things are changing back at the factory in the mean time. And I've been seeing more and more Vermeers on the road lately. Demos are good but of course working with the machine over time is when you really get to understand all it's ins and outs, so feedback from other users is key.

I just got a new truck from the boss. Last one had 125,000 miles. The tool boxes are HUGE.
