Yalex, Nerex & Tenex

Hi!

Am getting ready to splice together some whoopie type slings and am weighing the pros and cons of the 3/4 inch hollow braids from the "big 3".

Do any of you have opinions on the Yalex, Nerex or Tenex?

What would be the best splcie to use for the primary eye. I was thinking maybe a standard eye or a brummel eye.

Lastly, what would be a good material to use as an abrasion sleeve for the eyes? I was thinking some nylon tubular webbing. Any other suggestions?

ThanX!

The best splice??? A standard locking brummell, not a mobius locking brummell. A long gradual taper/bury is still a good idea. And lock stitch. (use N.I.C.C.S. Method!)

I use tubular webbing often for chafe-pro. Don't melt the ends of the webbing....that alone can chafe the rope you're trying to protect!! Just let the end get a little fuzzy. It shouldn't fray too much. However, I don't think the chafe-pro is necessary. If a rope is used so much that the eye is chafing away...it was time to retire that a little while ago!
