Yale Cordage - Static vs Dynamic test on rope demo

Re: Yale Cordage - Static vs Dynamic test on rope

I promise not to climb on the strongest rope.

Just the best rope.

Re: Yale Cordage - Static vs Dynamic test on rope

dynamic ropes are better for the types of rigging we do everyday or so i was taught if the rope has no give then it might blow out the crotch you are rigging off of. blocks are one thing, nat rigging is another. so opens the can of worms.

Re: Yale Cordage - Static vs Dynamic test on rope

Yeah, I think there are times you decide which is best. Blow a blow a rope or blow a target. Alot depends on safety of the climber. I should say that I see alot of cutting stuff big instead of climing more and chunk out stuff easier to handle. I don't rush my guys.

Wow! That is.... eye opening! We all know about static, dynamic, shock load, material construction, etc. But, wow what a demo!

Great video!!! I do my part by encouraging people NOT to get high-mod lines for rigging when they call me.

In the demonstration of the truck, was the xtc fire in use there? Also where the climber went flying, what rope combinations were used? Would the climber going flying off the limb have be prevented if he had used a different rope?

I know this Waldo if In the demonstration of the truck it was the 1/2 inch xtc fire in use. I think id be changing climbing lines! Don't think you could be any safer.
All joking aside, I wander what diameter that rope was? On the video you could hear it tinging and popping like a cable about to break!
