Yale 11.7’s

I couldn't find a sweet spot on the runner. Was too tight or too loose and It was flattening the rope so much that it would slip on me. I was using the same end of the rope each time I climbed on it and also began to notice some hockling. If i tightened the bollard I had to use two hands to break the bird.
Milking the rope equalized the cover and the core and made the rope much stiffer and the rope runner works flawlessly now. I was really shocked at the change and now it runs perfectly!
Was this just the hank that I purchased? Anyone else experience anything similar?
I also find that interesting. I had heard the old 11.7 milked a lot, but I thought the new "tight" jacket was supposed to milk almost not at all. I actually ordered my rope with two spliced eyes. I learned how to splice, but I don't have time to do it right now. So if it proves to milk a lot, I will have to cut an eye off! Sounds painful.

I am hoping you won't experience it. Would hate for you to cut off one of your splices! I am a bigger climber so perhaps that has something to do with it!

Thanks guys! It looks like I should take Evo’s suggestion and see if Wesspur or Gap would sell a short hank of Blue Moon to try and pick up the 200’ of Calamine from Sherrill.

I use a ZK-1 rope wrench now and am looming forward to testing it out low and slow on the hank of Calamine from Treetopflyer.
ZK1.....what are you a dinosaur. Time to experience bliss....ZK2 shorty...

I can buy any Yale 11.7 and throw my runners on and it flies sleek AF. I love new rope. I have a plethora of used prussic that also love new rope. Each at differing stages of wear.

A dinosaur? . . . Nah just a newbie using some older gear that was given to me until I can upgrade. I figured a new rope was more important than a ZK-1 and tether. What do you think? If it was your money would you get the wrench and tether or the rope? Genuinely curious. I am jealous of that rig though Swing. You pretty much sold me on the Poison Ivy family of ropes.

Rope for sure. But get the ZK2 ASAP.

It is my second red one. Was pretty beat up so sanded all the color off....like that Black HC. Love the fucking thing. I have 3 of them though. 6 HCs ...soon to be 4 and 7....lol
Swing did you put some more black shrink wrap on that tether? If so what size shrink did you use? I would like to stiffen up my ISC shorty and was thinking some shrink wrap might do the job nicely..

Yes indeed Erik. It is way too bendy as stock. Will check when I get home. I have a bit left. I have been doing it with all tethers. I hate all the stupid advertising as well. I am an all black no labels kind of gut. No frills.
