do elaborate...pleasePutting 1/2" SB into 5/8" tenex isnt a good idea.
Okay here is my first attempt at the "Oceans" XRR sling
5/8 tenex, large ring, beast ring
It is a bit stiff no doubt, I am expecting it to loosen up over time.
There's two t's in Rockett! Thanks. Nice work, I'll be trying one for myself. Rocket Sling!
If the tail eye was straight bury instead of a Locking Brummel, you could open it and close it by pulling on the Large X-Ring on the double ring side. With that capability, you could open it to pass the rings then equalize and cinch them down in a choke, and you could even install an X-Ring into it if you wanted a basket configuration, again, by pulling on the Large X-Ring to tighten it before hanging.I had the same thought right as I was finishing! It would be great if that eye were large enough to pass both rings through for choking purposes.

I need to get to the splicing table...fast!!!
Will do! I'll begin working on it tomorrow evening. We've had amazing working weather lately and I just can't stop myself from being out there. If only the sun could hang up there just a bit longer, right!?Get a picture of that setup when you've made it if you can pease.

Ok, I'm out of the rings that I wanted to use so I made this. I had to dismantle an older balancer for this project since it was all I had. I'll be ordering more of everything soon because this has my gears turning. I've already taken it a bit too far, but only in my head. I had to stop here and regroup.
What's here is a basket style that can be converted in seconds into a whoopie by just pulling out the eye with the Beast ring in it and adjusting to your desired size within the range. So, it goes from retrievable basket to choked large ring very easily and those are the two things I like to have the most while in the crown. In fact, I'd like to make a few more of these in different sizes and lengths. I'll figure that after playing with this one for a while.
One mod I can already see doing is adding chafe sleeve to the adjustable eye at a length that still allows a proper choke on the Beast Ring, but would protect all else when used in choke w/o the ring installed.
Let me know what you think...wouldn't be surprised if it has already been done!

Thanks, Shawn. It's a Marlow Ropes throw line, but it has too much elongation to be really good for that so I had a spool knocking about the shop. It's pretty stuff to whip with.Very nicely done oceans. What a beautiful piece there. Im curious what you used as whipping, im having a hard time figuring it out...
But looks great.

No, just a demo photoDo you often dangle the rings so low from the girth hitch for a reason?
