x-mas lights

well the off-season has officially started, and this year I've decided to augment my income by offering the service of hanging x-mas lights. Has anyone else tried this? What's the hang ups? what's a good rate? Are there any time savers? What is the spirit of Christmas? Can Santa Claus see through lead? I need answers. Thanks

I've both hung lights up and taken them down. They come down much faster. It's simple work if you have a bucket, but it's very involving if you're climbing. Charge your normal rate and make sure the customer gives you ALL the supplies need. Use tie wraps to secure the lights to the perimeter of the tree. You'll need plenty of extension cords and lots of time. Conifers such as a Blue Atlas Cedar are easy to do from a lift but hard to climb, while an oak or maple is relatively easy climbing. You'll need a ground man too. And don't leave the tree until you're sure all the lights work!!!!!! Good luck.

i enjoyed the work but i don't think its very profitable . the only advice i can give is make sure the homeowner springs for good quality lights because the cheap lights offer nothing but lots of headaches . most people try to get away with the cheaper lights and they just don't hold up.
