Hello all. Pretty sure something similar was posted quite recently but figured I'd give it a shot. Looking for any well-designed grapple hook. Captain hook or other. I'm looking at the yella grapple on wesspur but im not sure I like the look of it. wanted to see if anyone had something that might be a little better. The captain is obviously intriguing but not a huge fan of that price. Any and all responses appreciated!

I've been wanting one myself for a long time, especially after watching some videos from Reg Coates about how he uses his. I live in the same general area with very similar work conditions, so there are tons of uses for me, transferring between tall doug firs in particular. The Captain Hook seemed expensive and better suited to wide crotches, limbs of particular diameters and spreading trees to me, so just the other day I bought a hook of Amazon (no-name Chinese...), the same DMM bag that comes in their kit, some 3/8" line and am making my own setup for about $110. The hook was about $40 and I'll have to see how the quality is, but... it should at least be an interesting experiment!
