Wraptor resistance

I use my GRCS with a gas drill and it's perfect for getting up the tall ones.
I'm fully rested and ready to work.
With a reversible drill I have two speeds.

It all comes down to progressive change, and accepting where we came from, and where we are going to be later in time. Over the past 15ish years or so, climbing gear (ropes, saddles, systems, snaps, tools) has progressed very very fast from the old days. I know a lot of climbers that like to do things their way. Thats good, because when climbing you have to meet your comfort level.
It hate to see people play the for tat game. If you don't like it don't buy it,please don't bash someones good idea and hard work. Has anyone of us developed and marketed anything to make tree work easier and more productive?
Been out to the west, nor cal, and so cal 80 120' euc's(DBH 4-7') all day long, climbed and measured a 165er the first branch was at 75'. People say there is a 300' euc, sorry can't say where. A 40 to 60' footlock is cake, now double that and tell me after three days of work I don't want to ride the wraptor.

P.S. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
Thanx for the wraptor it is a very good tool that will find its way into our truck.

no way a drill and grcs is anywhere close....good one helliewho

ego, gets in the way of change.....

staying in shape is cool....getting more work done with less energy is priceless

Wraptors are VERY handy on the east coast too! LOL

22 years of climbing under my belt....I dont miss jugging a rope everyday.

I'd almost bet I'm as old as if not older than you, any day you'd like to put that over rated gas humper vs a climber let me know you can PM me and I'll give you my price for the day. I a sure you I'll smoke that gas anchor.

Good for you, your the same type that tell me all the time the bucket truck is worth more than a guy that can climb hahahhahah jerk off.

What I wonder is why people who have them feel such a need to convience others that it's such a great thing. Seems like a lot of wasted effort for such a minimal gain.

If someone has questions, I either answer them or direct them to someone who knows more than I. If they want to play with the numbers and see what it'd have to do in order to pay for itself in X amount of time, no problem. Otherwise, I'm not going to chase someone down and beg them to make their life easier (from my perspective) when there's plenty of sand to pound.

They feel a need to justifiy the money they just pissed away for very little gain. Do you understand now, only one saying it's the boom is the old farts that maybe need to just sell work instead of climb. me myself I won't piss 2500 away for a thing I beat in the tree most the time.

Good Lord Holly get a grip.

Great post LJ, Lets keep the Wraptor a secret! We'll still be workin' when some of these guys are in for knee and/or hip surgery.

Tom makes a valid point, right tool for the job! Anything that can save the body and energy is NOT a waste in my opinion.

Oh ya, I am one of the senior citizens in the tree workin'game!

It's all good, when I feel I need one then maybe. At this moment nah, I can beat it. besides time is money no? that thing takes alot of time to set up more so then the guy that can't throw a bag to save his life. Thats all I'm saying.

For the same reason other try to say the Uni is the best and only ascender/descender out there. And the person that trys to convince everyone they only rope to use is Tachyon. Because it works for them and they feel they need to share it with everyone else. I agree with you though, show me once if I want to try it I will ask but dont try and force it on me or think less of me because I dont.
I feel I have an open mind (have been told otherwise), and like to try new things but until one of my buddies buys one Im still doing it the "old" way, and will continue to enjoy my youth. It all gets the job done.
Holly, I have never seen one set up, is it really that much time to get it set up?

Worst than a rope walker system.

Don't get me wrong, I have one even though my lift gives me the reach to do 90%+ of my work. I don't feel the need to "Bible Thump" others into agreeing it's a time saver for me.

It takes less than 30 seconds to put it on the rope*, although I've never really timed it. Mine hasn't taken more than 3 pulls to start/run. It takes maybe 10 seconds to attach my climbing line to the bottom and attach the backup lanyard to my bridge.

It seems like there's plenty of vids of it about, but if someone wants a specific vid, I can crank one out.

*:
Open cover
Put bite of rope over the sheave
Close Cover
Attach Rope Walker to the ascent line
Pump Primer
Engage Choke
Pull Recoil Start
Reduce Choke and run up to chest level
Stick climbing line eye through ring and reattach to biner
Hook the backup biner to bridge
Peg throttle

I'd guess around minute from start to lift off.

Thank you for the remarks, point made 1 min to set, most only take 30 secs at most to lock 40 foot. !-5 mins set every time is not a bonus to production.

I probably take about two or three, since I have a habit of getting things upside down I tend to triplecheck. But the next minute is spent motoring to the top, smiling, breathing deep, resting.

We oughta have a timed event with grcs and drill.
