WOW

Craig,

have you googled the Firestorm to see what else might be out there?

It sure seems like a good idea.

There was an article about the split electrode design plugs. The manufacturer claimed that it would produce twice the spark. But the physicists and electricians all pointed out the electricity goes from point to point. Unless both of the points were the same distance, exactly, from all points of the electrode, the spark would still only make one jump.

With the hoop he uses this might be eliminated.

I don't know if it for real but I thought that it was an interesting read. I am a little sceptical over the $350,000 that is required to get this thing off the ground. It seems to be a such meger amount of seed money for such an incredible product.

In the interview that I read I found out that he was connected to the Splitfire. That makes me just a little suspicious. It sure would be nice to have them under the hood of a few vehicles.

If he had a company make prototypes it seems like he could hire them to make a short production run. What is the whole discussion about re-tooling? Maybe if they went into production.

looks fake to me. public would JUMP at a chance to improve mileage 50%.

Looks more than fake, and it's not just the public that would jump. Automakers all over the world are vying to produce the "next generation" of super-efficient vehicles.

While I know that, in the past, the powerful US automobile industry has killed inventions that would in any way undermine their monopoly*, they (and the OEM suppliers, such as spark plug manufacturers) would not hesitate to take on such a simple and low-cost technology to help it meet both increasing mileage standards and consumer's increasing demand for efficient cars.

So Krupa's story of corporate disinterest just doesn't hold water any more than his outrageous claim for both horsepower and mileage improvements.

There have been no shortage of inventions claiming to improve fuel efficiency, and to my knowledge none of them have worked as claimed. (I had been in the auto repair industry since 1969 and was one of the first fully-certified mechanics in the US in 1972 - I also knew the head of electrical engineering at Chrysler who was responsible for the development of the first OEM electronic ignition, a real improvement in technology).

[* in fact, GM bought all the electric trolleys on the west coast and then shut them down so they could sell fleets of smelly buses to the major cities.]

Re: WOW ??????????

Just pull out a J.C.Whitney catalogue, pick all the parts you could replace that up the horsepower and fuel economy. In one weekend of beer drinking some tools and hanging with the guys you should have 1500 horsepower and still getting 55 mpg. If you believe what you read?

Re: WOW ??????????

Well I seen them types split fire the whole thing the problem is with those kinda of spark plugs with the multiple electrodes, the "spark" can only go to one at a time. And the one that isnt used just collects the crap thats left over. So it doesn't out last or out performe.
