world clock - check the Forest loss and oil pumped

Re: world clock - check the Forest loss and oil pu

Looks like the car manufacturers have some catching up to do.
Their production can't keep up with the growth of the population

No they are purchasing bicycles instead

[/ QUOTE ]

No, no. That amount of manufactured bicycles is the same as the amount of bicycles that is stolen in Amsterdam.

It's probably the awareness of carpooling kicking in

It's an eyeopener first class.

Twenty years ago there where people (young parents) that started using cotton diapers again. This was because they where more eco friendly than the paper diapers.
A (in Holland well known) biologist made complete fools out of those people. He was as sobering as the calender by explaining that if those parents really where concerned about the environment, that they never should have thought about children in the first place.
After the diapers it's the plastic toys and when they grow up the real polluting starts because they start to buy cars that consume petrol and use large quantity's of tires.

I can only speak for myself. I have one kid. This biologist made me realize that if you really want to live eco friendly than keep the impact of your life to a minimum. If you have five kids and you drive a Prius, than you are probably another cotton diaper parent.

So if you have five kids, pick your one favorite and...
Well, looks like that one is going to be getting a bit more attention.

RIGHT - he did not say CONSUME all the resources that he provided.

i try to be green, recycle and purchase used instead of new. but still i consume. living 14 miles from the closest food store does not help either, there is no basket on my bicycle and the rivers don't go near the store either.

"RIGHT - he did not say CONSUME all the resources that he provided"

He probably didn't, but the evangelicals insist he did.

One highly uncomfortable truth is population. The higher the better for commerce, bolstered by religions, and deadly in it's needs.

Commerce dictates cultures, long lost in their simplicities and practical methods. A school teaches vocations, a kid prepared to design microchips - or punch a clock making them. Laws enacted to swear alliance with a flag and a God every morning, not how to sew or plant or restore or think independently...if a kid expresses any such desires, they forceably prescribe him Ritalin. A Pope akin to a leader with massive influence, to dismiss birth control because he believes God told him so. A nation of self-sufficient people needing Buicks and T.V.'s and Pepsicola, so we install them a leader that will provide them.
