warm day today in South Georgia, huh Winch?

You bet. I worked up a real sweat even though I was finished by eight. Went home, toweled off, and went for a forty-five minute walk with my blind friend. It's difficult for her to get out earlier, but the walking is really good for both of us.

Ivy removal from the bottom of the trunk, with chiseling, engulfed rock removal and a minor hose clearance pruning.

Siding was cut at a local small sawmill, 52 years ago... true 1" boards. Battens only on the water side/ sunny side.


One of the branches looked to be 100+ years old.

Took down a large Eastern white pine tree, too close to the house. Went well except I should learn to delay pines until the winter - the sap was horrendous.

I considered it. The small ones I could toss. The big branches were too large for speedline, especially since we don't have a lot of experience with the method. First morning we rigged branches using an ultra-sling from the top of the tree, using tag line to pull them away from the corner of the house. Second morning (only working mornings because of the heat wave here in Maryland) I set a floating crotch as a redirect in the neighboring pine, which was so much better.

Large crispy pin oak removal. Glad to have this one done. You can see my buddy back behind the stump for scale, hes standing about 6 feet back after finishing the backcut.

The Ryan's grapple on his articulating loader wouldn't open enough to grab the rounds.

It's pretty good right now, Cory. More expensive than ever but still making it and keeping up my yuppie lifestyle somehow.

Just spent the afternoon in the mountains nearby, just about paradise really.

Strictly pull out method

Went after this dead broken limb early yesterday morning. I was also able to retrieve a stuck throw weight and line higher up using my extension pole.

The butt end landed by the tree.

Thank goodness the gnats don't follow me up the trees.

And the removal of several more unwanted limbs live and dead limbs this morning.

The homeowner was cleaning up as soon as I was on the ground.

I didn't feel comfortable bringing up the chainsaw after all the hand sawing, so I'll make another climb to get some larger stuff Thursday. Gotta be super careful not to overdo it in this heat, but at least I'm climbing.
