It's very sad. That tree as you can see, had very healthy wood till the wilt got it.

Interesting discoloration, was it injected somewhat recently?

Another company did inject it for oak wilt, but I think it was too late.
Been doing some big removals recently, this one is site-clearing for a new home being built. It was a super cool madrone I was a little bummed to take down, but well, I sure wouldn't build my own house under it either, so I can't blame someone else for wanting it down either right?
Right where the corner of the house is going to be was this 130' doug fir and large sideways growing madrone, probably 80' tall itself. Nothing below, but the property line and neighbor was somewhat close so it all needed to be pieced out, which also made cleanup easier for the excavator. I spurred up the fir, stripped it and took the top, then put a canopy anchor on the spar. Went down and swung into the madrone, stripped that closest piece and put a redirect on, then walked out onto the huge horizontal part of the tree taking it apart. These trees are super slippery, especially around spring, so they are one of the few cases where I leave small stubs for foot/handholds, and places for my flip-line to settle into. Got as much off the madorne as I could, then swung back into the fir, dropped some logs off with a bigger saw, then fell both stems from the ground. About 3.5 hours start to finish.

I like how you laid those logs in there, like sardines in a can.
We all know it's a team effort, nothing worse than a climber who makes a mess and doesn't put down material with clean-up efficiency in mind!
Yep, a little extra time in the tree can save a ton of work on the ground.
Came across this actively splitting double-top cedar, cleared my schedule and got it done the next day.
Took what limbs I could reach with pole tools from the deck, climbed to put on a big ratchet strap and pull-line, a little tension with the rope puller and let it sail past the corner of the deck.

A fun little storm clean up today. At least two other companies passed this one up before I got called. Got it all down with zero damage to the fence, flowers or garden decor. No crane access due to power lines above the data wires that its resting on.
