Been a while since this thread got bumped, so here is the process from a job from the other day.

Did this big ole pine, core-rot and massive limb tear-outs, although I thought it was still a cool tree I'd have kept since it wasn't a threat to anything.... Solo, 4 hours from arrival to all brush chipped and all wood on the ground. The Stihl HT133 gas polesaw kicks ass by the way, had it fully extended with the bar buried in the huge limbs, didn't skip a beat and let me process tons of material without leaving the ground on this tree. Super heavy top, fattest hinge I've seen/done in a long time. Deep side-cuts, fast back-cut, no drama.

They always wind up being some of the scariest trees I have to climb.... look at this one, "oh, it's had these cracks for a long time, they open up every time the wind blows, finally decided it was time to call someone about it!"

It's like 80' tall, 10 feet from a house and basically nothing good higher than it to tie into. Ugh.

Slim Jim. For when you lock yourself out of the truck.

Plastic felling wedges are pretty gentle for prying a door a little bit to poke the unlock button.

If you’re in a city, most taxi companies will unlock a car. Around 25$ last time I needed it, maybe 15 years ago. Cheaper than a tow truck company anyways.

With some older trucks you can slide a coat hanger in the door seal near the door handle and push down on a lever inside the door to unlock the door. I used to keep a short piece of coat hanger in the bed of my old truck just in case.

A little different kind of work this time, site clearing for new homes. Spent most of the week climbing and taking apart firs, or felling them when I had space to do so. Pretty much spur up, strip some limbs, take a top, then drop the log from the ground. Limb, buck the logs, and the excavator moved all the material. Once a big opening in the middle was made, was able to fell trees into the hole, usually pushing with the excavator, which then dug the stumps out. I think I spurred around 700' the first day on all the climbing removals before we had space to do a lot more felling.

Day outage for 4 climbers on an island off Southern Tasmania. Some long flat limbs and terrible TIP’s made for some tricky climbing for 2 work mates.

Getting ready for my home build, so I'm splitting more OG Redwood Shake/shingles, and experimenting with some unusual chocolate brown and ebony colored Redwood that I have in my stash. Should make for some beautiful cabinets and built-ins.

Found this on the phone. Getting setup to blow a top at 140-145ft..
