For any of you in the area...
If you're near Reynoldsburg and have chips to drop, the city (and myself) would GREATLY appreciate you doing so at one of our parks of public green spaces to be used for mulch.

Trying to get the city back on TC USA and starting an urban forestry program. Also, would love to keep city workers on mowers and an herbicide happy turf knucklehead as far away from my trees as possibly via mulch rings and beds.

Thanks and pm with and questions io whatnot.

Neanderthals! Hopefully they aren't unionized.

I dont have an aversion despite claims of nitrogen drafts (gasp!!!)

No mature tree will be affected by a normal depth of fresh chips. I would even be pretty skeptical about a topdressing negatively affecting younger trees.
Furthermore, green wood and leaves provide a more readily available food source for many soil organisms. Older partially decomposed OM has its merits too though.

Good to know. Thanks!

What is your take on using fresh wood chip via. partially composted?
The initiation of the composting process and the biology involved when using whole tree chips is an important component in the recycling of nutrients and is best done on site. There is no downside to it.
