Wood chip disposal

I was wondering how everyone disposes of there wood chips. Do you dump them at your shop or do bring them to another location (if so what do you pay)? Thanks

We dump everywhere. I probably dumped some where Jimmy Hoffa lays.

We dump a lot of them for nurseries or other private properties, but will dump at recyclers as well. One place will take chips for free, but only 1 load per day. Another charges 25 bucks for our trucks (25 yards). Not bad at all really.

Here in Michigan we are darn lucky. We have two recyclers and more nurseries than I can count on two hands that will take all of our chips, and all of the wood we can produce. All free of charge /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif. Is a buck a yard fairly common or is that low?

$160 a load at the dump for 25 yards...we try not to go there much....give it to nurseries and landscapers and customers and blow it into the woods.

I have a dozen different places around here where I can dump clean chips. People always seem to think they want em.

Im lucky I live in Upper Michigan and have no problems getting rid of chips....Has any one tried planting potatos in them.Iv been doing it for years and always keep a pile in the back 40 just for that purpose. It's alot easer than digging them up out of the dirt and works great!Other wise I give them to the hippies at the organic farm.

Just drive slow past my place...give me time to run down the driveway and flag you down. /forum/images/graemlins/smilie_winki.gif

On this lane, I have to be quick....I caught some guys cutting up some locust....got over there just as they started, but the foreman had already promised the chips to the farmer next door. BUT....he said I could have the wood....all cut to stove length and dumped in my field. I normally only burn hedge (osage orange) but guessed I could 'settle' for locust. /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif
