Women's Work Clothes!

Location

Hi! We are looking for your feedback on what you think is missing from the women's workwear market? Is there a piece of clothing that would help you stay safer on the job? Any feedback is great!

Sizing, durability, cost, and color options are always the issue I come across when trying to purchase womens work wear comparable to men's. Take Carhartt for example- I've found decent sizing in waist, but limited lengths, limited colors, and although similar in price to men's, clothing seems less durable. I like Duluth Trading Company but again, limited lengths and some varying waist sizes, limited colors compared to what's available for men. Duluth made the same exact durable "firehose" pants as they did for men's, but quickly discontinued it. Same for Carhartt and certain style work pants. I've had good luck so far with Dovetail Workwear, but be sure to ask about sizing vs your body type because some pants work better for straight or curvy body types. As far as I've seen thus far in my career (ecological restoration, wildland/rx fire, forestry) there's limited options for women, clothing isn't as durable/available, sizing is off, and usually more costly than men's work wear. It'd be nice to see something consistent, with varying options, and not so costly!

To add to my last comment, I have not yet tried women's sizing in arbor style wear (chap pants, climbing clothing, etc). I have heard that Arborwear is pretty spot on, durable. If I try other brands for specific tree work, I will repost my comments.

One of the ladies I work with has good things to say about womens clogger saw pants (they also can apparently do custom sizes as well) only downside is not "butt" pockets

I am new to the industry, in a ground worker training program in Ontario,Canada.

It was disheartening to be completely sized out in chainsaw pants because they are 0 stretch and not meant for hips/butt. I had to opt for chaps, but I feel the coverage isnt the same.

I hear my wife complain about non tree work clothing all the time. She is pretty unique in that she offers companies feedback to improve.

I have felt like women posting on TreeBuzz are kind of few in number through the years. If you get the right person or several maybe set up testing opportunities with them and keep their interest by supplying a certain amount of the successful model?

Also you can see female arb workers, climbers, trainers on YouTube video. If there were some with the right qualities they could be approached for same. The trainers that I've taken classes from seem very keen to contribute to the industry.

Hi! I know there are more brands offering women specific chainsaw protection now! Which is great because we have been seeing more women in the industry. Arborwear offers women's chainsaw pants in women specific sizing with stretch fabric that will hopefully fit women of all sizes to ensure the most safety out on the job site.
