@ATL, I had them in my twenties and regreted selling my 86. This is something I have always wanted to do and I am jacked to be actually doing it.
Going with fiberglass body and a tricked out 340. Not going to skip over a single detail. My 7 year old son will be one happy kid when he is old enough to drive.
I have a 2011 I use daily and do all my estimates in, but its not the same.....although the yuppies will argue that.
I made a 2 year plan for the restoration and want to do all the work myself.
The paint of course will be forrest green.

Great!
I hope to be able to say that in a few more years.
I've been into CJ's for a long time.
I restored 3 of them. Started when I was around 20 or 21 yrs old. Did one with a girlfriend, an 1983 CJ5 with straight 258. Did another for resale, bought it for $250 and sold for $6300. CJ with another 258. Did another for resale, a 1979 CJ 7 with the 304.
NEVER GOT TO FULLY DO MY OWN JEEP for MYSELF. Only changed engines, transmission, full cage and stuff like that. Last time I ran it was 2005 I think. It's been under two tarps since. Life too busy. Really sucks. I hope it isn't rusting too bad. I miss it so much. I'm going to see if I can find a picture. Came with the 304 V8, I later put in the AMC 360 V8. I have a rebuilt AMC 401 V8 in a tent garage waiting....
will look for a picture now...
Oh, was that a typo when you wrote 340 engine? I think AMC only did a 304, a 360, a 390 (in muscle cars but same block design) and the 401. Or is the 340 some other V8 you are swapping in?
I haven't thought about specification details in a long time, glad I sort of remember.
