With all the recent drama being posted lately...

The hot rods are in Austin this weekend. Lots of rat rods but also custom and total stock rebuilds.

Wanda Jackson is on the stage at the fairgrounds. After seeing Dick Dale on Tuesday night it sure makes for a balanced week to see Wanda too!

Rockin' and rods!

@ATL, I had them in my twenties and regreted selling my 86. This is something I have always wanted to do and I am jacked to be actually doing it.
Going with fiberglass body and a tricked out 340. Not going to skip over a single detail. My 7 year old son will be one happy kid when he is old enough to drive.
I have a 2011 I use daily and do all my estimates in, but its not the same.....although the yuppies will argue that.
I made a 2 year plan for the restoration and want to do all the work myself.
The paint of course will be forrest green.

Your birthday Banjo? If so, have a great and safe one. If a family members, same wishes to them. And make sure you are on time for work Monday morning!

I'm leading a hiking trail clearing crew up in the boundary waters the first weekend in May. Have a training hike scheduled at Fort Snelling state park tomorrow and a crosscut saw certification course on Sunday. FYI no motorized equipment is allowed in the BWCA. link for our groups website.

When I lived in Minneapolis there was an annual week long canoe trip to the BWCAW/Quetico. We were paddling out on walleye opener weekend after having a week of solitude. Often times we were the first group across portages so we did lots of trail clearing. Having a couple of Silky saws along made short work of windfalls. We always cleared back a couple of feet from the trail so there was some wiggle room for carrying canoes. Have fun in paradise!

I soooo miss being able to drink out of lakes :(

Great!

I hope to be able to say that in a few more years.

I've been into CJ's for a long time.

I restored 3 of them. Started when I was around 20 or 21 yrs old. Did one with a girlfriend, an 1983 CJ5 with straight 258. Did another for resale, bought it for $250 and sold for $6300. CJ with another 258. Did another for resale, a 1979 CJ 7 with the 304.

NEVER GOT TO FULLY DO MY OWN JEEP for MYSELF. Only changed engines, transmission, full cage and stuff like that. Last time I ran it was 2005 I think. It's been under two tarps since. Life too busy. Really sucks. I hope it isn't rusting too bad. I miss it so much. I'm going to see if I can find a picture. Came with the 304 V8, I later put in the AMC 360 V8. I have a rebuilt AMC 401 V8 in a tent garage waiting....

will look for a picture now...

Oh, was that a typo when you wrote 340 engine? I think AMC only did a 304, a 360, a 390 (in muscle cars but same block design) and the 401. Or is the 340 some other V8 you are swapping in?

I haven't thought about specification details in a long time, glad I sort of remember.

Jeeps and Dogo Argentino.

Funny how often many of us are similar.

Here is picture of my CJ 5. 1978.

Picture from 2004. Looks like I was wrong, 2004 was the last year I wheeled it.
