Yesterday was at the ranch home of a friend who showed me a video of "victories" in urban counter-insurgency operations sent to him by a local retired Air Force Colonel, whom I also know. The film was a complete manufactured piece of garbage illustrated by the lack of heat signatures in landing aircraft (while 'enemy' bodies showed-up with white-hot brilliance) and the accompanying radio chatter which was scripted and read by rear echelon wimps. A fantasy film that was so unreal, only a fool could believe it - yet my friend was convinced it was real. The difference between those who think we're on the brink of victory and those who know better. One's a fool and the other is just a being that can tell the difference between real oceanfront property and homesites being peddled by this administration.
I find it funny that the harshest critics of the testimonies forthcoming from active duty as well as four-tour vets are the ones who either spent their enlistment in airconditioned Airstream trailers compiling falsified KIA data, deep inside the turbine rooms on luxurious aircraft carriers a hundred miles offshore (or in a drunken stupor at a stool in a Singapore bar), or at home on a education deferment. The same people who believe we're winning against the growing millions of people who are increasingly hating us.
There's some ugly truths coming home that should be mandatory words for the highschool kids, the ignorant voting public, or the lazy couch-potato armchair war quarterbacks who fly the flag and think we're number one.
