Right now, Monday evening, I'm watching a show on the History Channel about a theory that the ancient Egyptians used kites to move stones to build the pyramids and other monuments. The calculations show that it is possible. Now, can they duplicate the possibility using ancient tools and materials?

The show is called "Flying pyramids, Soaring stones"

That's why they kept Hebrew slaves. They used the Levites to levitate the stones. /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

Interesting show and I'm quite sure it's all true.

It's also true that ancient sailors used large kites as a sailing aid. These sailing kites were huge and sailors would climb the kite line and do repairs to both the kite and the line. These kites would remain aloft for weeks at a time. I imagine sailors using the 'elavator' system when it came time to change work shifts.

Sailing kites greatly improved sailing speeds and also greatly improved visibility. The inventors of these kite powered ships were responsible for the spreading of humanity around the globe about 7,500BC.

The kite sailors then went on to build the pyramids(using kites of course)........and left our known universe about 3,500BC shortly after Hayduke Asimov discovered the solar sail. Some of their technology was left behind but most of it was lost.

Hopefully they will return soon.
