Wiley X Safety Glasses

My brother just recently got back from Iraq where they issued him several pairs of these safety glasses, he sent me a new pair just recently. Apparently him and his buddies tried to break him for fun, they ran them over with a hummer, shot them, still didn't bust.

I'm going to try them out this week, they come with a goggle attachment or traditional attachment, and black and clear glasses.

Anyone use these for tree work?

I have worn these Wiley's (Wiley-X) for over a year. They have been excellent.

I have had the same one's for sometime now. I bought them off ebay from a soldier that returned from Iraq and had a extra pair. Anyways, they seem to fog on me REAL bad. I have tried the anti fog-scratch remover from Sherrill w/ some help. When they do not fog they work very well especially when the saw dust is blowing in your face, no worries. I seem to find my self tilting them up to vent for a second or so and doing that seems to help also.

yeah, I talked to my bro about the fogging issue when he was sending em out to me, as my current glasses are a pain in the arse, as they fog up immediately, it being hawaii and all. He said that they did fog in iraq quite a bit, but that they fog less surprisingly when he used them with the regular sunglass attachment, not the goggle style. So I'm going to try em both out and see what happens.

190 bucks?! And that's not prescription. What's up Woodlandtc, how's it going? How much did yours off of ebay run ya? A bit pricey for me at this point. Maybe my Sis who's been to Iraq has some layin around?

I got lucky with mine...they were in the discount display cabinet at Brigade Quartermasters years ago...I think I paid $17 for them (came with yellow lenses, too).

I wasn't sure how good they were...then I read an article about 2 years ago about how many of our soldiers were getting eye injuries from debris from richochets, explosions, etc....injuries that could have been prevented by the issued eyeglasses. When doctors were asking the boys why they weren't wearing the issued specs they usually mentioned how goofy looking they were.

Wiley got wind of it and donated a huge batch of their "cool" looking specs to the troops. That caught on and lots of our guys started wearing Wileys over there. They are very sound ballistically.

I have had some fog problems but I just assume that is part of the price you pay with glasses. All safety specs fog with me once I get "steamed up". It's a good excuse to take a break and wipe them down. Or just let them hang for a minute from the "croakie" I use to hold them.

Hey, RogerM

I am doing good. How are you? I believe I paid $50 for them.
The Boss man bought a pair but w/out the foam around the frames, he says there the best he ever had. His is also polarized. Mines not. I would try ebay if you are interested, this would be the cheapest place for these type of saftey glasses..IMO.
