I just picked up this ascender to make an adjustable bridge for my saddle. I was wondering if there are any other cool tricks I could use it for? I saw in the sherrill catalog that there is a loop climbing system it can be used in, what else? Thanks, Lonnie

Thanks familytree, I have got it to where it is working really well on the weaver cougar. I attached it with a caribiner through the webbing where the rope bridge ring is. I used it today and I am liking the new system.

Lonniels, do you know if you can attach your lanyard into that webbing, along with your climbing line being loaded on the bridge? I really want to do that to avoid using the side D's, but I'm not sure if it's "legal"

I would be careful as far using the ropeman for a life support application. Make sure that you have that thing backed up with a good sturdy knot of some kind as the ropeman is not rated high enough.

matt I dont hook my lanyard in that webbing because of space constraints. I dont see why that would be a problem if there was nothing else in that space.

PUclimber I definitely back the ropeman up with a double fishermans knot, if it fails I lose 8 or so inches of slack.

treeweaver, I will have been keeping an eye on the wear and it seems to be holding up well. Time will tell though. What type of bridge did you have? Which rope?

I squished and deformed both the original TM bridge and the next bridge I tried, 7/16 KMIII.
I might have been paranoid, hard to tell. Those threads about rope bridge failures didnt help either.

jmcsrap that is a cool trick, i might have to set that up and try it.

Jeff are you talking about pairing it with a grapple hook and setting that in the crotch and using it as a secondary line? That is what I picture.

thanks to both of you
