white oak

I have a customer with a de-foliating white oak for the last two springs. The tree produces new foliage each time and has minimal deadwood and a healthy structure. The customer had the city forester examine the tree and was determined to have anthracnose and recomended to have it sprayed. Help, I don't know what to tell her as far as pro's and con's with the treatment. thanks

I dont have any experience with spaying for anthracnose, but I have been told that it is difficult to get the timing. There is only a short time frame when you can spray for it effectivly.

I have noticed that the last two springs have been perfect conditions for anthracnose here in MN. As you said, I have not seen any dieback from the trees.

White oak is usually pretty large for a spray like that. Ever heard of chemical trespass? REally, you've only got to get the lower third of the tree, spray it twice a season, do it two years in a row and stop. Or, just let the client know it's not too serious and they don't need to do anything...or you can focus on just makign sure the tree is in a healthy place and state as possible by mulching, watering, maybe add some mycorrhizae? Depends, as always.
