Point taken, some don't see the necesity for chemicals and I have no problem with that. Soaps and oils are somewhat effective dependant on the application, pest numbers and vulnerability, and life cycle of the insect. My current take is responsible use of pesticides by qualified applicators who truly care about environmental issues can safely and effectively administer (synthetic) pesticides with little or no harm. I have 2 young children and 80% of the rural population of my state get their H2O from the ground, I feel safe following or surpassing the guidlines using pesticides. Sometimes targeted applications or synthetic pesticides work better, on other occasions they aren't warranted. There is much to be said about a solid IPM program.
