Which to choose? Mini Skid Steer

Yep exact same scenario. Never ever on pavement, and we literally babied it turning, throttle down to prevent it to no avail.

I've never paid real close attention to where the rock has to be in relation to the track. But in general it seems if the rock/root is in the gap between the drive wheel and the track guides, or the tension wheel and guides, while doing a turn it puts enough of a buckle in the shape of a slightly loose track to allow it it pop off. If that makes sense.

Pavement grips the tracks, but does not cause a buckle in them.

Thanks for responding Tread Lightly. I love Bobcat. They are a solid company with solid equipment. With that said, I have been avoiding their mini skids for 2 reasons. And maybe the 2 reasons are minor. But they feel like legitimate ones to me. Let me know your thoughts, but the first reason is the non-universal attachment system. I like the fact that the other manufactures are interchangeable for the simple reason I can rent attachments I need for specific jobs as the jobs come and I do not have to purchace so many attachments. A guy could spend more on attachments then the machine and use certain ones infrequently. However, if I went with Bobcat, and if there is a place that rents BC's attachments that is close to me, then that problem solved. But then there is the 2nd issue....The trolly. I wish they had a stand plate. I do not like that trolly apparatus. It's low to the ground and prone to hitting things when backing up or maneuvering in tight place? Correct me if I am wrong about that.

I can speak directly to this,
1. BOBCAT now offers the cii attachment plate...aka toro dingo/ mini skid style attachment plate as a no cost option if you already have those attachments.
2. The trailer, or ride behind plate is gone! A thing of the past. Seems very similar to the vermeer platform now.
Biggest thing is price...and parts availability, dealer support is key...
Example: I just blew a hose on one of my bobcat 463 machines....can have the part tomorrow morning If not in stock, and they can make any rubber hose....
Closest ditch witch dealer is 1.5 hours away...parts would be harder to get.
Vermeer dealer moved in next to the bobcat dealer, but very limited parts supplys....mainly just a sales storefront...

A landscaper that sends me a ton of tree work just bought a big Bobcat mini with a full size skid loader quick attach! The non universal attachment also deterred me away from Bobcats. I'll be checking them out when I'm ready to upgrade my lil Thomas, still have quite some time til I'm ready tho.

I never knew the mt52 could use a standard skid steer bucket. There are no bobcat dealers conveniently located to me which is why I choose any other mini I got a good deal on. I like having the ability to rent attachments nearby for it for the rare odd job around the house.

Those lil Thomas' are nice aren't they. Wish they were still made. It's gonna be tough when my lill guy gives up. Where do you get parts from? The normal maintenance stuff come from the auto parts store but I'm thinking loader bushings and pins and such? I would like a second set of rims? Thanks

They are still being made.
I got price on 25G. I wish they offered a larger engine. Ramrod can do a 35hp Briggs. Wheel loader. Anyone chime in on Ramrod?

Why not? Where is the fulcrum? How long is the lever on each side of it?
Great question...if the loader bucket pivot pins are out in front of the front track idlers, (which they are) you can not phiscally lift more than you weigh...you would tip.
I think toro was looking for impressive numbers and just flip flopped the actual weight of the machine, 2790lbs and the Tippig load of the machine. 3075lbs

If the machine weighs a true 3075lbs then I could believe all day that it tips at 2790lbs

Then you made the right choice. No dealer support close enough is a deal breaker.
I would have chose exactly like you did, and if there is a rental yard close that is even better. :)

I've replaced a few of the loader bushings already. I just measured them and ordered from a bearing supply place.
Things like rims just measure the bolt pattern and back spacing. They are probably the same as a golf cart. I buy very few parts from the manufacurer. I try to buy my parts from the places the manufacturer buys them. It's crazy the markup that gets added to them. I know of several parts I've found 4 and 500 % markup on.

Thank you TreelineNH for taking the time to reply. Good info. The Ditch Witch dealer quoted me $22k for the SK600 and $25k for the SK752. Both come with a bucket (no grapple). What do you think? Should I spend the extra $3k and get the SK752 as opposed to the SK600? They both have the same horsepower I think. Flow rates might increase? The only difference I see is longer wheel base. And maybe that is enough of a reason to get the 752. I'll ask for your guy's expertise on that one. Thanks again
Tip weight is critical. Otherwise you may as well get an arbor trolley.

@Oroboros is right it depends where the fulcrum point is. You can pick more than you weigh with the ma of a lever. Plus those specs are written with the weight of the operator acting as additional counter weight.
