I’ve got both an Avant and mini skid, the avant is so comfortable, I’ve ran it for 2 seasons, it’s like riding in a cadillac, heated seat, easy to get in and out of, both have there places but the Avant is the go to machine for us.

I’ve been running mine off my trailer for 6 years when it doesn’t need to come off, sets up in 2 mins or less.

I know a company out in South Dakota that is at least transporting on a ram 5500 but don’t know if he has crib up the outriggers fo loading and unloading or does the outriggers go all the way to the ground?

Mine go all the way to the ground, I use my outrigger pads all the time no matter where it’s set up also.

Mine only rides on a trailer, a truck shouldn’t be a problem, the easy lifts outriggers travel down far

On the video, it is a 61-36A but that lift and the 70-36AJ share the same frames and chassis so, it fits on a 5500

Hopping on this thread a bit late. It's 2024 now, has anything changed? We're looking at loaders, it will be our first. I've ran avants, minis, and tractors.

The reason I'm thinking of a compact tractor is versatility. They have the grapple, backhoe, snowblower, bucket, forks, augers, etc. As a tax write off and utility on our hobby farm, plus being able to haul it with a half ton, and moving wood with little impact.

It won't fit through a 36" gate, but it's less than half the cost of a mini skid or avant, even fully equipped. It can still lift 700lbs and fit most places. We're mostly rural around here, and when we are in town the drag normally isn't a huge deal.

Being in our first year of operations, I'm fairly limited in taking out huge loans, which will nearly price me out of a true mini skid.

Wanted to know y'all's thoughts. I don't think it will do any one thing perfect, but it can do a lot of stuff well enough to be passable.
