Where do I find knowledge about climbing trees near electric lines?

I'm new to this topic
Great advice from somethingwitty. I'll add look for old timers that 've been at it, working near and around lines for many years.. the stories and tips and tricks they can share Wil save your life one day if you plan on venturing into that realm of work. Pick peoples brains about it. One thing I'll say is you need super awareness while climbing in general, then an even more intensified focus near conductors. Electricity is faster than anything we deal with.

Stay as far away from them as you possibly can, there are absolutely no second chances when climbing around powerlines.
Not only do you need to be a competent climber, your cutting skills and knowledge of the trees your cutting react need to be spot on.
Every cut you make around lines has the potential to kill you

Training under a watchful eye. ANSI Z133 requires training. Minimum approach distance for non line clearance.qualified.arborists is 10 feet. Observe that distance religiously. Information is found, knowledge is gained.

When clearing lines for tree owners, I check the state law: "Article 19A. Overhead High-Voltage Line Safety Act. http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/enactedlegislation/statutes/pdf/byarticle/chapter_95/article_19a.pdf 95-229.7. “No person shall…be placed within six feet of any overhead high-voltage line; or any part of any tool or material used by the agent, employee, or other person to be brought within six feet of any overhead high-voltage line,…”. I looked and determined that I and my tools would remain more than 6’ away...
