Where did my skin go?

Long, thin (4-5 inch)ash (Fraxinus excelsior) branch over shielded power cable, took it off about half way, feet on it, body at horizontal angle, using a step cut.

The mother must have sprung up about a foot in a tenth of a second and this hand o' mine got skinned.

It was scary and it shook me a bit. It was the first branch I cut, but I dismantled the tree anyway. Stings like hell when wet though.

Is this too minor to be an awakening?

Dear Rentachimp,

you are having ONE great August and it is only the 6th. MAYBE you should take the rest off as you are 2 up on us all.

OR maybe, take that extra breath or moment to rethink about what you are going to do?

SORRY that you are boo-boobed, the forehead and now the hand.

OH MY.

Take care of yourself.

What caused the branch to spring up, did it pivot on the power line?

Nah; it was the remaining limb that sprung up. I couldn't see the end of the branch, as it went through a hedge. My supervisor said for me to cut it quickly so it didn't get hung up. He's such a twat.

I couldn't climb today as the scabbing skin cracks when I grip anything. Such a pathetic wound, but disabling nonetheless.

Just like to say that a collegue of mine put his hand through the window in our mess room on Friday. He was skating with an an office chair and overbalanced. lol
