When was the last time you saw this ?

Years back Bob Weber showed me this technique from some one he learned it from in New York.

It has come in handy a few times.

A close up ...

Basic and simple but straight to the point...

The core of climbing, capture and relaese of friction..

The same goes for salmon..

Catch and release.. but they taste so good..

You can't get much less gear intensive than that!

Thanks for sharing. Looks great for a second tie in when double crotching.

Could you explain why the standing end of the rope is though the bowline? Is it just to keep the tail kind of out of the way?

That's just what I was thinking.

Thanks Robert for showing us that tip.

Im thinking that it serves as a slack tender just like a micro pulley would.

TY for the pics will try useing that, and yeah that seems so simple to use and you are right someof the simplest things are right in front of our noses. Agian ty for the info.

You are right Jesse.

The running end is included in the bowline. Then you tie the Blake's hitch. When you do this it will capture the slack as you advance the Blake's hitch, using a single line footlock to move up, over or out.

In tree transfer and tree to tree ransfer is where I use it the most. Nice second tie comes in handy and its a cheap investment.

It was year ago before i learned to splice, thanks to you guys.Im on a open end split tail, blakes. ill be moving on to a vt and hitch climber asap.
Runing the standing part through the loop in the boline
looks to complicated, apita, dont need it.
