What\'s that knot again?

The sliding,,, grapevine,,, noose,,, knot,,,hitch?

The one that forms a great cinching aye at the bottom end of your prusik loop. You know the name right????

A quick google search led to many dead ends - no pun.

Page 91 of course! I haven't had that book under my pillow for years, thanks for the refresh.

But I seem to remember a better name than "Sliding Double Fisherman's". Anybody got it?

I had to dig that one out; I just remembered a "sliding,,, grapevine,,, noose,,, knot,,,hitch" for a prusik loop in there somewhere, so I figured I'd bust it out. I dont know any other names, though

Re: What\'s that knot again?

Not quite guys, Lumberjackson has the right picture, page 91 of the TCC.

This is in the Double Overhand family of knots and bends. There are many variations with a multitude of "common" names, maybe the most recognized is "Double Fisherman's" - usually referring to a double overhand loop. (also known as "Poacher's Knot"

Some others are "Grapevine Bend" used to join 2 ropes or two ends of a Prusik loop.

I believe "Scaffold" refers to a triple overhand loop knot.

The knot I'm referring to is a combination of several of these. What I'm looking for is it's other name - other than "Sliding Double Fisherman's".

Thanks for all the replies though - I just love games with knots.

BAM! Dogvine! Thanks Tom, I knew it was out there. Maybe I was on the wrong climber's forum for this one.

Hartenburg is also really stepping up his eye for all things nautical. Tom, will you show and describe the clock hitch? I saw you use it once.
