what's in your rigging bags?! Show em up !

"I work with one guy on ground for myself and hold ropes while up there quite often" TreeTopFlyer.
You are going to want a THT for sure then. That belay spool might be cool too.
StihlMadd, no X-Rigging Rings in that mix? Good thing you have them coming. Your next picture will be better. :)
Yeah this time of year one man on ground. Got the belay spool and its cool . Definitely need a THT. Or Two !
Got more Xrings in the cart right now . I'm lookin at making a beast whoopie setup old fart style . I was just waiting to see what new Xring configuration s may be coming out 2015. Look like its gonna be a good year!

I'm waiting on the tht and new info for some light reading before I fill my cart with any more rings. I'm sure I'm a bit of a pain for David to ship to many orders north of the border.

but to steer this puppy back on topic I with all that rigging am still going to be purchasing some isc mini blocks and rigging rings to add to the arsenal would like some feedback on the mini block if any one has put them to good use yet?
I picked up a mini block at the TCIA Expo and have used it quite a bit. Light on the saddle. Don't notice it. It's my go to block until things get big.

I'm a gear junkie as well, especially if it's shiny. More so if it's colourful.:D
I really like the GRCS. Real handy for taking slack out of line as a branch falls, along with its ability to lift. It's only limit is your imagination.
Plus it's shiny. :reloco:
I always purchase more than I intended when going to the arborist supply store. When buying online (Treestuff) this happens a little less....... But rarely.

Was organizing the garage yesterday and found a couple of rope bags with brand new ropes that I forgot about. Was like Christmas all over again. Kinda like finding an extra $20 in you pant pocket, but only more so.

Gotta get me some of those X-rings though.

I have 5/8 ISC rigging block, 1/2 green rigginng block, adjustable beast x-rigging ring, large x-rigging ring, x-rigging ring to ring, port-a-wrap, steel 3in cmi pulley and a little Omni block. Not much but it gets most jobs done!

More than enough considering arbs worked in trees with nothing but ropes for alot longer than with hardware thus far . All good useful stuff right there. Hopefully I can get some good vid of a takedown with no rigging other than a rigging line and then one on adjustable rigging slings.

I worked for an old school guy for a couple years, he always thought it was faster to use natural crotch and wraps on the tree then to use pulleys and a port-a-wrap because of set up time. Each to there own I prefer using the rigging gear

Aha! I too, showed the pics on here to my wife... as photographic evidence that not only am I not the Lone Ranger of gear collecting, but am, in fact, a mere lightweight by comparison. I suggested that she tear up the damn commitment papers and stop all of her foolish nonsense about it taking three years of garage sales to dispose of my vast estate when I finally fall out of a tree and land on my head.

Now, if only I can convince her to stop wasting money on silly luxuries like food and utilities, and help me pick out some stuff on TreeStuff.com that I really need...

When you figure out how to convince the wife to shop for tree gear let us know every package that comes I get "Now what did you buy!" I say atleast it comes with free stickers Lol

ahh Jeff if I have done nothing more this week than make some other treeman's gear collecting habit a bit easier around the ball and chain then I have accomplished something good. you should feel relaxed in your own home not be worrying whether you will beat the missus to the delivery van before they knock on the door.

Indeed! And a guy shouldn't have to check the trash can to find the latest catalogs, which mysteriously end up there before I can check the mail... :p

I'm sure its marginally faster not useing hardware for straight up top down rigging, safer no garentees there.Tree dictates moves more. Porty is definitely a time saver in itself though , well depends on the ground man really, but safe to say its more consistent I think and probably a bit safer. I prefer rigging as well, but certain trees its no contest for either or . The guy(s) who can make the determination which is more suitable for any given tree or situation will be the happy productive crew. The dynamic equilibrium between ground crew and climber can be deceiving as to what's truly better all around sometimes and takes years of experiences to dail it all in with consistency.

I Got a text from my girl today while I was 80 ft up a spruce tree asking me about the ZIG-ZAG. She just got her bonus check at work and she's the one ordering her own gear. Ahhhhh. What a catch.
