What was he thinking ...

that was the first thing I noticed....

wheres his rope?

Im with tnt on this one.... its uneducated, underskilled people like this that drive all of our rates up. Hes lucky to be alive.

The question I have is-

Was the ladder leaning against the tree behind him placed there by the rescue team? or did the climber use it to access the tree?

Another fine example of what goes on down in Florida. Sounds as if the guy was working alone, BIG mistake! I hope the guy will be alright, but if I get a chance to run into him I will mention his 15 min. of fame.

where were the helmets for the rescue crew in the air? I did notice the rescuers on the ground had them on.

I can't believe that there are people like that out there doing tree work.

These are the type of videos that the average person will see and then assume that our industry is filled with idiots.

This could happen to one of us or crazier of one of us. I dont show everyday and climb like that but put in the situation where I didn't have any gear with me and this all that was available to me and the money was right I'd been right there too and collecting the check. Everything has its price.

The price is 300 to 500 a day and I'll take pride in what ever you want. Pride? I'm not proud of what I do or can do. I cut trees down and do it well.

Here's a quote I heard recently "buisness man first arborist second".

So everything has its price?

Your safety, your life, the safety of those around you?

Those you'd jeopardize for money, because you were put in the situation where I didn't have any gear with me and this all that was available to me and the money was right I'd been right there too and collecting the check.

TopHop, what I read into your post is that taking shortcuts may not only endanger the shortcutter but the people that try to rescue him, too....and it also hurts the people that care about the shortcutter.

We have to think beyond ourselves when we make decisions that shortcut proper safety precautions.

I'd say it's all about the trees (and going home in one piece). The bling bling will come your way even if it's not your primary focus.

Yes, Arborist first, than the money. This way of thinking is making me more money every year.
