Im with tnt on this one.... its uneducated, underskilled people like this that drive all of our rates up. Hes lucky to be alive.

The question I have is-

Was the ladder leaning against the tree behind him placed there by the rescue team? or did the climber use it to access the tree?

I dont show everyday and climb like that but put in the situation where I didn't have any gear with me and this all that was available to me and the money was right I'd been right there too and collecting the check. TopHop, what I read into your post is that taking shortcuts may not only endanger the shortcutter but the people that try to rescue him, too....and it also hurts the people that care about the shortcutter.

We have to think beyond ourselves when we make decisions that shortcut proper safety precautions.
