What trailer for an Easylift 87-48AJ or 101-48AJ?

Check out Bauxlite trailers, by Pine Hill Trailers, they’re local to me and they build some good ones. Last I heard their backlog wasn’t too bad either, and they were actually designing a trailer for that specific lift if my memory is correct.

Tried getting quotes for the 18-20ft mission trailor from multiple outfits. They said they are not quoting any new trailors due to the lead time being over a year out. Insane!

If anyone wants to sell this style trailor I'm looking. I would also settle for a good condition tilt deck.

Thanks everybody. 87-48AJ should be here next week.
Congratulations! Thats good news and good timing right before the heat of the season.

Yes, its all coming together. I'm very excited to see that lift on a job site finally. Will most likely move it with my dump trailor and see what best suits it before commiting to a particular trailor.

@Reach; I will check those guys out. Thanks.

On another note, I had first right of refusal on a 19xpc that I had always wanted from the seller of my current chipper "bandit1390xp" (he upgraded to the 19xpc) 2 years later, he retired and now it looks like I'm buying a bandit 19xpc. It will be alittle nerve wracking at first but I'm setting myself up for a big production setup this year. We have the work to support the purchases. I just hope we don't get a recession in the near future.

When it rains it pours! Still keeping it a 2 man show. Me and my brother!

Going from the 1390 to the 19 is like being on another planet. You're going to love it. Congrats on the new gear. Glad to hear it. Hard to get your hands on it even if there is some type of recession, you'll be well positioned to be efficient during, and ready to roll when it's over. Especially a 2 man show the bigger chipper cuts out a lot of fussing around at the chipper cutting etc. Only problem is you'll need a bigger chip truck....

Thanks Sfoppema, we are really excited. This chipper will make us really rock through the white pine jobs. We will run the chip truck we have for now. There will always be some sort of bottle neck!

@Reach. I reached out to pine Hill, they are about 3 months out on a new aluminum lift trailor. Not so bad, August is right around the corner. Thanks.

You’re welcome! Hope it works out for you. Last I spoke to them, their shop could build a trailer in a month, but the axles were holding them up, so that’s probably still the problem there. Enjoy the new trailer, share some pictures when you get it!

Could you fit an 87 and an Avant 423 (sideways)…the loaders only about 2000lb not heavy, the lift is about 8000lb I think? So they weight should be good, but I was just wondering if you could put a machine on the trailer too, because then only 2 trucks needed, chipper truck with chipper and tow truck for lift and loader, seems like that would be the ticket!

What's your tow truck? You would probably need a 24ft trailor at least.

That’s still class A territory unfortunately. The total weight including the weight of the trailer will be close to 13,000 lbs with those machines.

You would have to have one hell of a turned up 250/2500 to pull that setup under cdl. It could be done, But is it sustainable?
At those weights I don't think you could keep it under CDL, from my understanding a trailer at or over a GVWR of 10,001 lbs is a class A CDL. At a load of 10,000lbs in equipment that just isn't possible once you factor in the trailer weight.

If you could figure out a way to load the avant onto the truck and then tow the lift on a trailer (under 10,001lbs) that would be legal and the truck could have a weight rating up to 26,000lbs. I'm not sure of the ins and outs of getting an Avant up on a truck, but it works well with Mini skids.

My understanding is if the tow vehicle is under 10k gvw than the combined gvw of the truck and traiolor is combined. We tow a 16,000 gvw dump trailor with a dodge 2500- 9,000 gvw. both combined are under 26,000gvw.
That's in Massachusetts. I know NY state is different. So your state may be different

A ford ranger can haul a 20,000gvw tailo and be legal. Lol could you imagine. That would be one turned up ranger to haul that load

Maybe it's a difference of state laws. In Indiana a truck over 26,000lb gvwr requires a class B, any vehicle towing a trailer over 10,00lb gvwr requires a class A license. Unless it's for recreational use.

A buddy of mine double towed a toy hauler RV and a small flatbed trailer with a second side by side from Indiana to Moab Utah with a f250 and a regular driver's license (legally) but I am required to have a class A to tow a 12' dump trailer behind a F350 as it's for business.

It’s the same in all the states. As far as what is considered CDL or not

Over 26,000 vehicle or gross combined weight rating Class B

Trailer over 10,000 Class A

According to PA, and I believe also the FMCSA, a CDL is not necessary if the combination weight is not more than 26k lbs. That means you are perfectly legal pulling a 16k trailer behind a 10k truck. We do it all the time, and have verified that it is legal.

Ok, so I have a gmc3500 and it’s around 7000lb, I have it registered and legal to max out total gross weight including trailer for 24,250lb…so lift is 8300lb loader is 2500lb and let’s say trailer is 5000lb… therefore 8300+2500+4000+7000=21,800 total

So technically, weight wise I guess it’s legal…but at the end of the day…the biggest problem that I want to sort out is how to most effectively take the lift and loader with 1 tow vehicle! Because (correct me if I’m wrong), but 3 vehicles is definitely less efficient and multiple trips is lame too. So if someone has figured out the best solution, please share! It would be much appreciated.

I’m not sure about that in your state.

In Mass and many other states the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) NOT the GVW (gross vehicle weight) will be what determines whether or not a CDL is required.

For example, my dump truck has a 10,000 lb GVW but has a 16,500 lb GVWR. So without a CDL I can tow a trailer with a GVWR up to 9500 lbs to keep it at 26,000 lbs or less.
