Has anyone tried Salesforce?

Honestly, we need to all pitch in and pay someone to create a perfect program. We're all looking for the exact same thing and we're assuming its out there and we're wasting our time downloading trials of programs and wasting our money buying programs only to drop them a few months later because they just don't work for us.

Maybe if there isn't a better way, we have to create it.

Agreed.

We need a hybrid between a doctor's office software and any typical service industry software. And it has to be 100% mobile.

Too bad about arborgold, they almost have it right.

It's about to get real corporate up in here. Basically we need to form a TGSDC (Tree Guy Software Design Committee) to put together our wish list then seek out developers that can make the program we want, then get get the money and get started!

First things first, we need a good name for the program. My vote is Araucaria because of the extremely organized way in which it grows!

I think a good name is Arbornizer. Get yerself Arbornized.

Yeah, like that. But mostly just being goofy.

A friend of a friend is a software success story. He developed self scheduling for golf courses and also a handicap recording system. I could find him to see if he's interested in a project.

Anyone used ArborSoftWorks?
I'm getting ready to look at the sales demo from Real Green and ArborSoftWorks. (I wonder if they'll upload the little room from the car lot to close the deal.) Guessing I'm gonna be told how great each one is. Next move will be to look at a custom build situation. I have found, like any big equipment, it all breaks down and the support is critical. Tough to sort out who's going to provide the best support in the future. AG's support is what ruined them for me.
Cory- DON'T DO AN UPDATE! that's when AG falls apart. Or do it when you have some down time and back everything up before AG gets in there.
Nick- If I remember right, a "TGSDC" is how AG got started. The founder was an office manager for a tree firm. But, many companies that grow too fast lose the race because it boils down to providing consistent service.

I know this is an old posting, but our consulting arborist company had a terrible time with ArborSoftWorx. Not only is the software not applicable to anyone but tree service companies, the owner's were awful to work with. Horrible service, awful software, and extremely expensive for the quality. I could go ON AND ON with particulars, but will just end with STEER CLEAR of ArborSoftWorx. Our company uses QuickBooks and an Access Database...we are MUCH happier!

I was scanning this site for some other information and ran across this posting, and wanted to respond.

Your point is correct. ArborSoftWorx is great for tree companies. We have been using ArborSoftWorx since 2003. We provide tree pruning and removal services, Plant Health Care applications, inventory and consultations for residential and commercial customers.

We find it very easy to use, reliable - it never breaks, we have never lost data. The updates and upgrades to new versions has always been good with a lot of new enhancements. Our sales reps use it in the field on tablets. They like how easy it is to work remotely and have all of their client's information available to them all of the time. They can look up their history, and create a new proposal in the field and hand it to the client immediately. We use the QuickBooks linkand it is always accurate. We have found the support from ArborSoftWorx to be very good, and they respond in a reasonable time. The owners and support staff have been to our office to provide training and consultation over the years and we like working with them.

Our experience with ArborSoftWorx and their team has been positive.

K Ellis- thanks for the insight. I had some back and forth with ASWx and wrote 'em a check. We'll go online with them in a month or so. I did explore some other software co's and they just weren't right for my biz.
Real Green never returned my calls- that says a lot!
Only time will tell if any software is worth thier cost but, I can say ArborGold is NOT! I hope to see them at a trade show when they have a full booth so I can return the favor. Maybe Donna can tell me one last time "John's gonna fix it soon."
Live & learn, right?
