No, it's a cicada killer. Sirex are dark colored with overlapping wings.

yes, Cicada Killer.

huge long stinger and i would suspect lots of poison.

They are not aggressive at all. No hive, no colony. Just a lone hole in the ground that the female stuffs cicadas into.

I've never been stung by one, but I've wondered for years how bad it would be.

I'm so curious, I might have to make one sting me to find out. If i do, I'll film it for ya.
