What is the Heidel hitch?

By request from Tom. It more a system, very much like a double blakes. The diff is it's tied with hitch cord, and you can unlock the second knot allowing you to move your tie-in without having to untie the whole system.

By placing the opening of the gate at the top you can just unclip the second knot for easy redirect around limbs and such.

Ok have fun picking at it.

I don't understand. Gonna need more explanation. Could you show how it makes redirects easier? Maybe a video. Maybe pictures from different angles as well.

Always interested in something new.

Ok I'll try to explain it better.

The first and main knot is the Bachmann Knot tie this so the gate opens at the top.
The second knot is a single rope Prohaska Knots this is tied to your fixed end.

Like the Blakes double you can now just pull the tail and the knot will advance on it's own. As you are going up if a limb is between your rope you can lanyard up, unclip the second knot from biner, unclip your fixed end and move it around limb, and continue pulling up.

Should you need to change tip points you can do the same without having to untie the main knot?

make sence?

thats so simple. what a head slapper. you called that knot a bachman.i know the knot as a auto block. rock climber use it as a emergency ascender. your name is probably the proper one. beautiful the krab acts as a heat sink. no more melted prussics. in a closed system too. the second hitch acts as slack tender no fancy gear does the second hitch ever try to slide around on you? i've tried that before with a blakes and a micro pulley and the hitch slide around to much.

maybe some insight hr. i liked the system it just didn't act right 50% of the time. i'm going to run your system tomorrow on a rec climb and see how i like it.

You'll find it is rather smooth surprizingly easy to control. I've not seen too much trouble with the Prohaska moving around. Only trouble is too many twist in your climb line, or pinch points over limbs not allowing the rope to slide freely.

One thing you'll notice with the set up I have is even unweighted a simple pull on the tail will advance the knot no need for a pulley.

Has anyone noticed that it is tied with NE. tech cord? 5mm orange and 6mm yellow.

cool Hollen.

can you send a bigger picture file to my arborx mail please.

this one comes up too small on here for me to figure out.

sounds nice.

I've not noticed any adverse effect on holding. I have noticed it's alot easier to move the knot up with a biner.

Ok This is the HRK (Heidal Ring Knot) You'd be surprised how this works. It releases easier then a VT but grabs better, there is no checking to make sure it's set. And the things that can be done with it have to be seen. One of the best features is in use as a foot lock prusik.
