what hitch cord goes best with arbormaster?

i have been using arbormaster for years and am gonna try out some new cords this week. i was thinking about getting an HRC, and an OP eye 2 eye cord. i feel like 8mm bites a little harder on 13mm ropes then a 10mm does. ive used both 8mm and 10mm beeline. does HRC stay pretty round after alot of use? im not liking the way beeline flattens out after a while.

Ice, which is also made by Samson, rules arbormaster in most hitch variations. Ice bites too hard in a blake's hitch but the VT, distel, and schwabaisch all excel. jmo.

I used ice on arbormaster for about 2 years and loved it. I have been using beeline 8mm for about 3 weeks now and I think it requires more effort to decend. That being said the difference isn't that great and all the other climbers I work with use beeline on arbormaster.

I switched cordage because that is what my supervisor ordered.

sounds like im i should try icetail then. my biggests gripe is coming down. beeline is nice when moving around but when you wanna descend i noticed the same thing, it locks up a bit. ice is cheaper too. ok thanks guys iim gonna buy some eye 2 eye ice tails today.

I really like using double braid Tenex 2 eyes with a knut. Works like a gem; it's consistent and smooth up and down. Love the combo!

I would keep the beeline and by myself a hank of tachyon from Sherrill (lava).

How you doing, Melisa(ika treebeach)? It's Bob, you taught me how to climb during that rec climb in Mass. I've faired well with my knowledge. I am still a landscaper but tree work has been a decent supplement to my income. Hope things are good by you.

DANG! i just got the ice tails in the mail today. holy smokies! it's like exactly what i imagined them to be. it slides really well even on SRT decents. i use a 4 wrap distel or a xt 3 wrap 2 braids. no more 8mm beeline for me.

Up until lately, I've used Beeline eye to eye, and I've also noticed that it seems to bite a little too hard on descents. A buddy gave me a length of Ice to mess around with. In the interest of economics (since i've never spliced anything other than three strand), I made up a piece with heat shrink tubing on each end, tied into double fisherman's knots. Using it tied into a VT hitch, on my Arbormaster is a beautiful thing!

Considering that Ice is just about the least expensive hitch cord going, I may just keep on knotting the ends and enjoying $6 prusiks.

I've been using armor plus on all my ropes lately and it works great. I've only had it for a few weeks so I don't know how long it lasts but it has a good feel on the rope.

I think Samson is suspect of a conspiracy

Ice will get worn out looking real fast but don't be fooled it loves getting used.

Worn out looking quick, tough as nails. It's a poly/aramid blend, I believe 20/80, so the poly fuzzes but the heat resistant aramid is heat resistant to 900 deg. F. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

bailout from wesspur. i use it on a little smaller dia. than arbormaster with a vt.

bailout is very heat resistant and the vt is new to me and i love it too much
