what do you like about your current saddle?

At TCI Expo Rich Hattier had his cougar set up with the CT rigging plates and a piece of Arbormaster 16 strand for the bridge. I tried it on when I was testing out his climbing system and it seemed to have a greater range of motion and better comfort than I remember with my Cougar. Definitely worth looking into if you are Cougar owner.

I personally am a Treemotion fan. X2 on Tr33climb3r and Jamin's comments. Comfort, support, and range of motion are excellent. The waist doesn't ride up or twist around. Leg pads stay in place and don't attack my crotch.

I also have a Skylotec Kolibri. Nice saddle. The rigid leg pads are comfortable to sit in when they are in the right spot.(they tend to rotate out) Good range of motion. The large D-rings are solid, adjustable, and easy to find. Stays up well with larger saws hanging. It's lighter than it looks. Seems like a durable saddle.

ha ha ha!!!! the new TV show, "off the map" was on tonight, one of the interns had to go out with her mentor to rescue a dude caught up on a zipline...they both wore Petzl Sequoias with bosun seats :) now there is some serious advertising, you saw a close up of the logo in the shot ...lol

You got to it before me! I couldn't stop telling my wife about the saddle during the whole scene!

What i thought was intriguing is that they attached them to the zip line via the "gold" D rings! Instead of using the floating bridge.

countryboypa's epic youtube film about how to convert it.

(Just giving you some free advertising there, Derrick...

Mine is an old Weaver with leg loops. The red one with the wide leather back support and stubborn refusal to wear out. I like it better since I put a hank of 1/2 SSb between the rings to clip my line on to it.

I have a Tree Austria III for my personal saddle. I really enjoy how lightweight this saddle is.

It has quite a lot of gear loops to store any extras you care to take into the tree with you. I prefer to keep my saddle pretty bare, just an extra carabiner or two, during regular prunings to keep it light.

I think the leg and back padding is minimal, but comfortable for most pruning applications. For big removals, where a bigger saw is necessary, this saddle doesn't have a whole lot going for it. There could be a little more support.

For my work saddle, I have a Buckingham Glide II. This saddle is very similar in design to the Tree Austria III, but its a lot heavier. This is better in some ways, it has much more padding and support.

It also has metal clips on both sides, making it unnecessary to have a caritool. The back support is great on this saddle, and there is enough space to store the necessary gear.

Overall these are both similar saddles, but they have their positives and negatives.

im on my second treemotion and i absolutely love it. the motion is the most comfortable saddle that i have worn and i love the ability to customize it. i have never bought into the cost arguement against the TM. your saddle is your most used and probably one of the most important tools in your tool kit and i see alot of people that complain about this exspense. spend the money to get whatever is most comfortable and suitable to you and dont worry about the cost, it doesnt take more then one or two jobs for them to be paid off.

I'm with you. Fly with what you like but don't go cheap. I currently am in a Sequoia and it is ok but I think I am headed a different direction this summer. What I like most about my saddle lately is it is on a whole lot more than it has been this winter.
