What do you enjoy about tree work?

I love completing a big job as efficiently as possible with all the equipment at my disposal. As a younger man I loved climbing and the thrill of rigging, now I love big iron and aniolating trees in short order

I enjoy the consulting/communication portion of it most. It's very gratifying to help a client learn what they need to know in order to make an objective and informed decision about how they wish to manage their trees. Even cooler to revisit them over time to see how satisfied they are with their decisions and management plan.

I do apologize for my previous post JD. It's very obvious I have no filter!
Wasn't directed at you. I've learned myriad forms of profanity and turns of a phrase from such individuals. More interested in having folks around willing to work and perhaps learn something than the average college intern I've had.

I enjoy working with foulmouthed lowlifes and other dregs of society.

That's what all the Hillside hookers and girls along Sullivant Avenue tell me. They told me you pull up with a van and yell, "Who wants to make some money?" then drive them to some jobsite and put them to work pruning ornamentals. Apparently, that's not what they were expecting. They thought "trimming bushes" meant something else.

Wonderful stuff guys and gals. Lets get some more opinions!
I strive for those moments when the whole crew is in sync and every moving part on the job is in concert, unified in purpose. Love that flow state...
More voices, please sing the praises of your cherished occupation!

I think a real highlight is getting a tree that either has already done some damage, or is in serious danger of doing so, all on the ground without incident... with the homeowner's entire family out there snapping pics and watching. Especially if there were limbs out over their house or other targets. When they see it rigged down safely, and the first thing they say is, "I never could have gotten that down without it landing on the roof/pool/fence/shed/dog!" because, face it, it always looks easy until you actually try it. As funny as some of those OOPS! videos on YouTube are, I really cringe at the thought of people who look at a tree and think it's as simple as borrowing a chainsaw, starting it up, and sawing through the tree until it falls down.

I suspect that most of us will never know how many people may have died, if they hadn't had second thoughts. I know I've had several homeowners tell me that they had considered trying it themselves, but some inner voice told them that it can't be that easy.

The puzzle aspect of it like others have said. I love looking at something and figuring out all of the quirks of the tree and what needs to be done for each individual tree. I also love pruning a tree and making something look nice that may have been over looked beforehand.

When you see a green horn start to get cocky and there comes that time he gets in your face just a little about how he sees shit going and you let him go because he found his zone
