I'm in central Iowa and contract climbing is pretty much non-existent. Probably due to trees being relatively small. I'm looking to find out where there is an abundance of contract climbing job. Also curious to hear from guys that hire contract climber; what makes a contract climber stand out to you?

On time, not afraid of the chipper, can run equipment, on time, well balanced (removals/pruning), willing to learn/or share knowledge, on time are just a few things I like to see. From what I can tell around us, is many companies hire contract climbers, I work with a guy 2-3 days a week normally, but that's my structure. Several other companies have that same stance.
Did I mention not afraid to help clean up and shows up on time. For a while they were looking for guys out west for beetle kill I think, but I don't know if that's still big or not.
