Wellington rope questions

a friend of mine gave me 200 feet of this rope, it is 1/2" -12 strand. there's a paper strand inside that says "Wellington leisure products". I'm assuming it's search and rescue rope.It also says - meets requirements for life safety rope of NFPA 1983; 1995 edition 82f5 -UL certified- 2 person rope.

any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Is the paper strand in the rope itself or did it just come with the rope?

There are several "Wellington Leisure Products" named companies that resell, and since it doesn't look like any of the rope Wellington Cordage makes I was wondering if maybe they were just the distributor. Resembles Kernmaster but with a loose weave. Might just be the picture though.

Edit: It's also not a Pelican product although it looks closer to that than anything Yale makes. Pelican keeps their tracers at 3 marks along the length of the rope.

Paper strand is in the core.

I cut off a 2 foot section and pulled the core out. It seems to be a very tight weave with the core intact.

A buddy says he thinks it's used by firefighters because of the information given. I'm curious to know the tensile strength.

Get rid of it. The price to replace it with a GOOD rope of known history is less than $200. Not worth having to constantly wonder about.

no thank you.

we're using it on a big removal this week, the extra 50 feet has been a real advantage and I'm quite confident in the ropes strength and endurance.
