"we risk our lives so you don't have to"

No it's not OK. Those smucks keep my prices profitless. Step up or step out. He probably prices with "whatever the market will bear on a given day" policy or scam what you can. He's got nicer equipment than me or well he actually has equipment when I spent my startup money on education and 6 years later I'm having trouble keeping the pickup/branch trailer show on the road.

For me that's the real issue.

Its well worth it doing it the right way. Stay on track and focus on you. You will prevail and be stronger for it.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

I know. But do I have to leave those "beat any quote by 25% guarenteed" signs one of those smucks littered the ditches with standing? It's hard not to go on night ops.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

Yep, I agree. These guys will always exist. Rise above them, be selective about your target market. Some people still place a lot of value on professionalism. When you lose a bid to these kind of guys, just remember, that customer would've probably sucked to work for anyway.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

Around here the county picks those signs up as quick as people stake them. We have one guy with a bucket who puts his signs on telephone poles out of reach.
I've never pulled any signs but I've been very tempted.

I wonder how Bollmeier crane rental feels about the abuse to their crane? Video may be a year old, but I'm still tempted to email the video to Bollmeier, their safety officer is their main email contact......

*Sigh* maybe that's too mean, dunno.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

I like the siren at 1:03 or so on the ladder topping vid. Just seems to be a prophesy of things to come someday.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

Just when you think you've seen it all, someone with a top handled saw and very long ladder proves you wrong yet again.

That particular stunt wouldn't looked out of place on one of old Murph's vids.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

The ladder video is my favorite. When he comes down the first time, he says "I'm gonna give it a minute. Sometimes it goes, sometimes I gotta give it a touch.".

He's serious. Where do you think he learned the suicide flop? Pre-cutting a notch, making the back cut. Working scared...I wonder if he is still around?

Sounds like everyone has it covered but i just seen this and have to say Wow. Like to meet the guy that trained him.

Re: \"we risk our lives so you don\'t have to\"

EZ Suicide flop, that's a good one and should be the official name for that technique.

Pull the signs! Better yet, take them and throw them through the guys livingroom window. (kidding)

Around here, it finally has been made illegal this year and you can get fined for putting them on county property at traffic lights and such.

And the other guy, call or write Bollmeier crane.

This isn't a new tree guy that is young and is trying to learn. This is someone that has been doing it this way for years and I'm sure does stuff cheap and will likey keep insurance rates up when he kills himself or one of his guys. Or, likely turns over a crane; or what about this idea: fatigues a crane and it fails on another good tree service?

To Hell with people like this, they will never change until dead.

Do them a a service by putting them out of service.
