Water for your sprayer, where do you get it?

I am planning to expand my business with a spray program next Spring, and I am wondering how some of you go about getting water for your sprayers. It just recently dawned on me that this could be an interesting challenge. I'd like to hear what others are doing. Water authority facilities? Wells? ??? Thanks for any input!

Hi Tom,
I pump water out of my pond with a small echo gas pump. I also have made friends with landscapers who let me fill up at their shop. They have large wells for watering plants at their nurseries. They also send me a pile of work. I used to do a little free work for the local fire department and they would let me fill up there. They have huge hoses that fill you up fast...good luck.

I wouldn't use fire hydrants without written permission from either the local water dept, or fire dept, at least not around here. You may be able to talk to the local fire departments about using their dry hydrants (typically its a pre-plumbed setup into a pond, where you can draft from the already set up pipe that's curbside).

Thanks for the input, fellas. I have friends in the FD, and there is a nursery nearby that may have a well, so I'll look into these options.

As far as filling up from lakes, etc, pardon my ignorance but do you need a separate system to pump INTO the tank? How exactly does that work? Thanks!
