Wallenstein chippers

I got to use one of these the other day and was plesantly surprised. Our normal chipper, Vermeer 625, broke down so we got to try out the CR60 from Wallenstein and a Salsco 6 inch. The Wallenstein was really in a different league, even comparable to a Bandit 65.

Anyone have any daily experience with Wallenstein chippers???
Feature seem pretty good and price seems really good (around 17-18K for the six inch.)

I even found that they now have a 10 inch disc:

Heres the six inch:

Even the six inch woas a huge step up from what were used to, made production so much better. Any opinions???

I've never really looked at Wallenstein, I always considered them to be home owner grade chippers, but that 10" has a ton of very good, well thought out features. Did you get the MSRP on the 10"?, looks like it would out produce our vermeer 12".

Not sure on price, seems to have just hit the market. It's not even on their web site. Prices seem very reasonable though.

Features seem good too, I think the've been making PTO chippers for some time.

They also have log trailers, could be interesting. I think Im gonna search deeper...

That sounds like a great machine...Although I dont think dual feed wheels belong on 6 inch machines, every one I have ran with dual feed wheels had issues and I have ran just about every 6 inch machine out there(in the states that is),except the Rayco(didn't see any reason too) and I am still really happy with my Morbark 2060d...I like simplicity and this machine has it...Sorry for the derail, but I have seen your posts and noticed that your scope of tree work is similar to mine...I know im glad people pointed me in the direction of this machine, just thought you should consider it...

What was the problem with the double rollers? I have briefly looked into the Morbark but the dealer is 3-4 hours away and the're impossible to find used. What kind of motor do you have in yours?

I emailed the California branch of wallenstein. They sent me this link showing the 6" is approx $18,000. Maybe I don't understand the value they bring to the table, but it seemed like a high price for a brand I've never heard of and that gets shipped to you with assembly required.

I guess I just need more info on it. Never seen one around here, so I'm skeptical.

The exact problem with the bandit 65xl that I used I couldn't tell you...If I had to guess, I would say that there was not enough power to flow enough hydraulic pressure to the bottom roller...Again that's only a guess...And the one I was using had the larger motor in it...the motor in mine is a 25hp Kohler...I like it for a couple of reasons...It's very simple(you hear me say this a lot),I like how I can work on it myself without having to take it to a dealer...And if the motor takes a crap there readily available and fairly inexspensive...
