Vision Changes and Issues Connected to Them

Thanks @evo I'll try to remember. I've been after @Mark Chisholm to get my most recent patient assessment article up on the site for a while but that guy is so busy and everybody wants something from him. Its a solid article and the subject from the Wesspur short is covered in more detail.
Steve, I was waiting for the edits to be completed I thought? Don was going to send the original and I don't think I ever received the updated article? If you have it, send it over and I'll get it posted.

I don't know anything about these... just sitting in the opticians' office.

Maybe some better, newer option for less distortion.

I also follow a woodworkers' forum and one fellow recently wrote in to warn others about using table saws while wearing certain types of lenses. It appears that the visual distortion actually caused him to put his fingers in the moving blade!

Just wondering if you might be able to wear basic magnifying eyeglasses (the kind they sell in drugstores) just for making your cuts? Perhaps they wouldn't cause so much distortion.

Good luck!

That’s an idea. Thank you. Might work!!

I bought some of those small stick-on button levels and put them on the dogs of my larger saws. Haven't tried them out yet but will report once I do. May have to epoxy them on as I don't think the sticky is going to last very long, but wanted to see if they are going to be worthwhile before I go that far.

Sort of.
I took the one saw out and gave it a whirl on an old stump. First thing I noticed was when I had the button level where it needed to be it looked way off to me, but I made the cut anyway. Turned out it was perfectly level as it should have been. I would have gone off at an odd angle if I had cut the way I thought it should have been. I now am a believer, and I look forward to actual work using the button levels. I did not have a problem with saw dust collecting on them where they were placed on the dogs, and they were easier to see than I thought they would be at that location. Now we shall see how long they stay stuck where they are. I had cleaned the side of the dogs with brake cleaner before I stuck them down, and they seem to still be well attached. I had bought this set, and there were two extra rectangular bubble levels in the pack with them. I don't know if that was a fluke or planned.
So far, I am a happy camper and know not to trust what my eyes and glasses are trying to tell me.

Interesting. Look at the post with RICO and look at my post after with the link. Maybe exercising your eyes could delay the process for you for a while. My eye decline is directly related to the amount of time on a smart phone. When my laptop died and I couldn't replace it, I spent 2 years using the phone as my computer. That did me in. The rain sucks when you need to see for sure. I had safety bifocals also. A super small corrective area that they do for the military. Those rocked. Everything was good until I need a full RX.
Damn, Steve. Sorry to hear that you're having these vision problems. This info about the phone is disturbing but makes sense, it's inspired me to cut back my screen time.
