Video -- excerpts from ITCC 2005

2.56mins and 14.3MB in wmv streaming format

Thanks again to Ekka. He is hosting a video I put together from footage that I shot in August in Nashville, TN, at the ITCC 2005 Masters Competition.

The folks you will see are all tremendously skilled and knowledgeable. Not all the competitors are shown...I had to keep the file size down to make it manageable.

I am pretty sure the first "flyer" is Kathy Holzer (edit...wrong, not Kathy)...Mr. Cool and Suave Nicolas Martinez from Texas is the footlocking demon just after the throwbag ballet...and the last person on the video is Dan Kraus. Maybe Tom and Mark can ID the other folks for us.

For Macs, Ekka worked some magic and now also has a link that may work for your Mac. It’s an MPG file and 28.15MB long suitable for MAC’s.

Per Ekka, also, if your player wont open it up etc just click “file” and “open URL” and type in the url above.

Remember that MPG does not buffer so if the play of the vid starts hesitating and jerking etc just hit stop and give it a chance to download.

hey gary,
thanks for posting video of the itcc - wish i could see it! for some reason it's not coming thru - maybe a mac issue? at any rate, unless you caught me doing the test run to help set the time limits on the work climb or women's master's, the first "flier" ain't me. i was just a lowly judge this year..

any chance of posting it again in some other way? i'm not too savvy w/the computer but i do have broadband and most vids work ok.
thanks!
k.

I'll see if I can render it into a Mac friendly format.

Can someone tell me what the guy was doing that basket tossed the throw line into the tree. Why did he have it swinging around so much. I am not familiar with what that was all about.

Nice video, There sure was a lot of jumpin around going on at that comp. I wish I had access to all the video that was shot it would make a nice full-length video. One highlight would have to be Mark and Franks head to head footlock. Frank set a new record and just narrowly beat Mark by only a few hundreds of a second. Also the women’s masters climbs were great to watch.

{Can someone tell me what the guy was doing that basket tossed the throw line into the tree? Why did he have it swinging around so much? I am not familiar with what that was all about.}

They were trying to hop the TB up to next crotch. The TB has to be swinging in the right direction and at just the right time, the line is pulled and released with just the right force to send the TB up and into the desired crotch. Be it above or to the side. Things don’t always go as planed.

That was why I included it in the video...it is really impressive to see these guys manipulating the tbag up in the tree. I always thought that once you missed the shot you had to rethrow...watching guys swing and dance the throwbag around was a real treat. They would time the swing, pull and then drop of the tbag to direct it to different crotches.
